Hair loss is deeply personal. For many, it’s more than just a cosmetic concern—it’s a slow erosion of confidence, identity, and control. Now, thanks to Italian innovation and medical-grade engineering, a new wave of custom, non-surgical hair restoration has made its way to Canada. At Ultra Hair Solutions in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the CNC Hair Prosthesis System from CRLAB (Cesare Ragazzi Laboratories) is offering patients a fully personalized, medically tested hair solution—without the need for surgery or wigs.

Here’s how it works—and why clients say it’s changing lives.

The Science of a “Second Scalp”

At first glance, the CNC system doesn’t look like medical equipment. But make no mistake—it is. Short for “Capelli Naturali a Contatto” (Natural Hair in Contact), the CNC system uses biomedical-grade polymers, 3D scanning technology, and unprocessed human hair to craft what can only be described as a second scalp.

Unlike traditional wigs or toupees, this isn’t something you take off at night. Once applied, the prosthetic becomes part of your daily life. You can swim, sweat, style, and sleep in it. It breathes. It holds. It moves with your body. And most importantly—it looks real. “It’s not a wig,” one user says. “It’s me. Just… me again.”

The 39-Step Production Process, Explained

Each CNC prosthetic is made by hand in Bologna, Italy. The process takes about six to eight weeks from initial scan to application, and involves a meticulous series of phases:

  1. Digital Mapping of the Scalp: Using 3D scanning technology, a precise model of the patient’s scalp is captured—including the topography of the skull and the pattern of hair loss.

  2. Plaster Mold Creation: The digital model is used to create a physical cast—essentially a perfect replica of the patient’s head.

  3. Clone Membrane Formation: A biomedical polymer base is built to match the exact shape, color tone, and density of the patient’s scalp. This “second skin” is breathable, flexible, and hypoallergenic.

  4. Hair Matching and Selection: High-grade, unprocessed human hair—known as “virgin hair”—is selected based on color, wave, length, and texture. Each hair is carefully chosen to match the natural characteristics of the client’s own hair.

  5. Manual Implantation: Technicians hand-insert each individual hair into the polymer base at the exact angle and density needed to mimic natural hair growth. This step alone can take several days.

  6. Adhesive Application: The final prosthetic is non-surgically grafted to the scalp using FDA-approved, dermatologically tested adhesives. No shaving is required, and an allergy test is performed beforehand.

  7. Final Fitting and Styling: Once applied, the prosthetic is cut and styled to the client’s specifications. Maintenance is required every 3 to 5 weeks to clean, check adhesion, and refresh styling.

It’s not just a product—it’s a medical-grade system built for realism, function, and emotional healing.

Who Is It For?

The CNC hair system is suitable for individuals experiencing hair loss due to:

  • Androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness)

  • Alopecia areata or totalis

  • Chemotherapy

  • Scarring from trauma or burns

  • Autoimmune conditions like lupus or lichen planopilaris

  • Trichotillomania

  • Or those simply experiencing thinning due to age or hormones

Both men and women—ranging in age from teenagers to seniors—have reported transformative results.

At Ultra Hair Solutions in Dartmouth, consultations are private, judgment-free, and customized. “We’re here to help people feel like themselves again,” says one technician. “This isn’t about vanity—it’s about identity.”

"I Got My Life Back"

The emotional impact of the CNC system is hard to overstate.

In a recorded testimonial, one woman breaks into tears recalling the moment her partner saw her after the fitting. “He said, ‘My baby is back.’ And that’s what it felt like. Like I’d returned to myself.”

Another user described sending selfies to friends immediately after installation. “I put my hands through my hair, something I hadn’t done in years. It looked and felt like mine. That changed everything.”

Across locations in Canada and the U.S., patients have echoed similar stories: job interviews, relationships, even everyday errands—suddenly feel different. “It’s not about hiding hair loss,” one client explained. “It’s about regaining confidence, without compromise.”

A Local Option for a Global Solution

While the technology was born in Italy, Ultra Hair Solutions in Dartmouth is now one of Canada’s exclusive providers of the CNC hair system. With a clinical setting and medically trained staff, the team is certified by CRLAB and trained to guide clients from consultation to aftercare.

“The precision is unmatched,” says a technician. “And for the client, the comfort and realism are unlike anything else on the market.”

What to Expect

The journey begins with a free consultation, followed by a scalp analysis. If you’re a good candidate, a 3D scan is performed and sent to Italy. Once the prosthetic is manufactured, the team in Dartmouth handles application, styling, and regular maintenance.

Costs vary based on the size of the area being covered and the length of hair desired. Maintenance appointments are generally scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks.

But the results, clients say, are worth every step.

Hair loss isn’t the end of your story—it’s just the beginning of a new chapter. With the medical-grade precision of CNC and the trusted, local expertise of Ultra Hair Solutions, you can move forward with confidence and comfort—restoring not just your hair, but your sense of self.
